How to configure illow to meet Google's requirements for EEA and UK

Modified on Mon, 11 Mar 2024 at 04:01 PM

If you are displaying ads or using the Google Tag (e.g. to do remarketing) in the EEA and UK, you might have received a notification by Google to meet certain requirements. Among them is using a google-approved CMP that implements IAB's TCF v2.2.

Fortunately, illow is a CMP reviewed and approved by Google which also implements IAB's TCF v2.2, meeting all requirements to be used in EEA and UK.

As always, configuring illow is a one-click effort.

To find this feature you must go to:

Side menu > Cookie Banner > Advanced Settings > GLOBAL/GDPR Banner > IAB Switch

Once this configuration is turned on, the banner will be modified to comply with IAB TCF v2.2 and Google Additional Consent Mode. You will notice that the text is larger and not customizable, that the icon after giving consent can not be hidden and that the permissions UI has a lot more detail in it. Everything matching with IAB's and Google's policies.

Under "Custom Permissions" your visitors will see the list of third-party vendors and purposes for which data is being shared. If you are wondering why the number of vendors is too high and whether it can be lowered or not, please refer to our guide explaining What are "Vendors" in Google Consent for EEA and UK and in IAB TCF?

That's how your domain can meet Google's requirements for EEA and UK with a single click.
