If you are reading this is probably because you recently learned about Google's new privacy requirements and don't know where to start. Well, fortunately you arrived at the right place.
Here's what you need to know.
The Context
With the new (and not that new) privacy regulations around the globe, Google had to adapt its business to avoid fines and keep their business running. So they created the Google Consent Mode, along with the Additional Consent Mode for EEA and UK. This enabled them to keep operating but at the same time respecting the user's privacy choices.
Since these frameworks required adding advanced code on the website and they wanted to reduce bugs as much as possible, they started reviewing Consent Management Platforms, delegating the integrations on them. Then Google started asking websites to use the CMPs approved by them.
illow is a CMP reviewed and approved by Google which implements Google Consent Mode, IAB TCF V2.2 and Additional Consent Mode for EEA and UK.
The requirements
Requirement:
If you:
- Use any Google Tag, for example to integrate with Google Analytics, Google Ads or even do remarketing
OR - Display ads on your website
Then, you need a google-approved CMP integrated with Consent Mode V2.
Solution: Install illow with Google Tag Manager and you are good to go. Consent Mode V2 is already set up.
Not using Google Tag Manager? Add illow's script tag to your website's HTML and configure Google Consent Mode V2.
---
Requirement:
If within the EEA and UK you:
- Use any Google Tag, for example to integrate with Google Analytics, Google Ads or even do remarketing
OR - Display ads on your website
Then, you need a google-approved CMP integrated with IAB TCF V2.2 and Google's Additional Consent Mode.
Solution: Install illow with Google Tag Manager and turn on the switch for IAB TCF V2.2 and Additional Consent Mode.
